Psalm 90:2 (NIV)

Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

I love the term "from everlasting to everlasting." We are stuck in this little blip of existence called time. God is in eternity. When we think of eternity, we tend to think of just a whole lot of time. This is wrong but it's about all we can come up with to describe eternity because we cannot grasp such a concept. Notice how the sentence uses the present tense to say "You are God." It does not say you were God before and you will be God after. Eternity is always in the present. My head hurts.

2 Timothy 1:8-10 (NIV)

So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord ... God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time...

In Second Timothy, we are told how we were saved before the beginning of time. That's another mind bender. We are commanded not to be ashamed to testify about or Lord. What's to be ashamed of? I think we are ashamed of humility. Such a powerful and awesome God requires us to have total humility and that goes against the proclivity of prideful little men of this world. I am not ashamed.
